Meet Shwetha
Shwetha Vasan is a writer, storyteller and travel and lifestyle tastemaker. She is a published author and has worked with popular brands like NatGeo, Humans of Bombay and The Hosteller. This is her online diary, the one place to get to know her better.
She is also very passionate about documenting the everyday mundane, the moments that truly matter— her favourite tea recipes and time spent with family and friends, amongst other things. She hopes that this becomes a space you always come to for ideas and inspiration.
TIME: Spring 2023
PLACE: Colaba, Mumbai
Colaba is the very essence of Bombay and a lovely place to soak in the gentle, sunshine-clad weather. The Vada pav at Aram and chai at Yazdani evoke the spirit of this magical city, the old English charm. It is frankly the perfect time to savour the scent of salty air and the glittering horizon before the sun scorches the city up, and it’s impossible to venture out for a leisurely stroll.
Spirit of Spring
There’s no time like spring,
When life’s alive in everything,
Before new nestlings sing,
Before cleft swallows speed their journey back
Along the trackless track–
God guides their wing,
He spread their table that they nothing lack,
Before the daisy grows a common flower,
Before the sun has power
To scorch the world up in his noontide hour

A journey through time
WAY BACK HOME
My late great-grandfather was an avid traveller. He used to maintain a very impressive diary in which he documented most of his expeditions, his day-to-day life and stories about his ancestors. ‘Way back home’ is a long-term ongoing project in which I try to retrace my late great-grandfather’s steps with the help of his travel diary. By recording and documenting all the things and places that feel like home, I hope to understand my roots better.
